About BuddhaYatra

In the Footsteps of the Awakened One

We are a small sangha of practitioners organizing pilgrimages to the places where the Buddha lived, taught and passed into Mahaparinirvana — journeys designed not as tourism, but as a continuation of your practice on the road.

Who we are

A pilgrimage, kept sacred

BuddhaYatra began with a simple realization: the most important sites of the Dhamma — Bodhgaya, Sarnath, Rajgir, Kushinagar, Lumbini — are scattered across hundreds of kilometres, and visiting them meaningfully takes more than a map. It takes time, a quiet pace, and a group that understands why you are there.

So we organize them the way we would want to travel ourselves. Each yatra follows a day-wise path through the sites associated with the life of the Tathagata — with meditative walks at the sacred spots, guided sitting sessions, Sangha-Dāna offerings at the monasteries, and space to simply be present where these events unfolded two-and-a-half millennia ago.

Our yatras are open to everyone — meditators deepening their practice, families honouring their elders’ devotion, and the simply curious. No prior experience is needed; we help you meditate along the way.

How we travel

Four quiet commitments that shape every journey

Sadhana, not tourism

Every itinerary is built around practice — morning sittings, guided meditation at each site, and a full day of Vipassana on the Bodhgaya route.

Guided by practitioners

Our Dhamma guides walk with you through each stop — narrating what happened here, then sitting with you in silence where it happened.

Panchsheel discipline

We travel together under the Five Precepts — non-harming, non-stealing, celibacy, truthful speech, and freedom from intoxicants.

Simple, sattvic travel

Comfortable lodging, vegetarian meals prepared with mindfulness, private AC coach, and all entry fees — nothing to juggle on the road.
